I'm just curious -- before buying the app, I want to know if the biographies spoil anything from the series. I've only read the first book, and I'd hate for the rest of the books to be ruined for me. Thanks! Looks like a great app!
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that there is a "Hide Spoilers" mode that hides *all* spoilers for fans who are new the series. Spoilers can be turned on/off through a setting in Settings->GoTC.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on building that out so you can reveal spoilers as you move through the books. Look out for that update in the coming weeks!
Hello I've just bought the app and I liked it. I'd like to ask for an option to make the text of bigger size.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Alex.
Noted. Thanks for the feedback!
ReplyDeleteAfter a few years yours is the first app I bought. It would be great if you could include the a picture of the characters which are in the TV show. Thanks for your work, especially your next feature which will give us the opportunity to only show that plot points up to the point where we have watched the series/read the books.

Okay, so here's a few suggestions etc. that I have after having checked out the app (mainly on the iPad) for a while:
ReplyDelete- there should always be a back button available to take you back step by step when digging deeper into the content
- since it is mostly text based an option to increase/change text size and maybe the font itself would be very appreciated
- when viewing the maps I have noticed that you can never see the whole map on the screen and when you pull it up to see the lower part it doesn't stay but always bounces back so that you can never really see it -- his needs to be fixed! Also it would be nice if at least the maps would switch to a full-screen mode when being viewed, right now it's just a waste of screen estate…
That's all for now, thanks for your effort…! :)
Maps do not work, app indicates that I must be online to view maps, even when I am online. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHBO GO also provides full episodes of many past and present HBO series, and is available to all HBO subscribers, no matter who your provider is (Hbogo.com). There's also a very cool HBO Go app for iPad.
ReplyDeleteComment about this app: if it is intended to cover the whole series of books, not just the first book, you have left out a major religion -- R'hllor, the Lord of Ligh and God of Flame and Shadow -- although in the characters section you do list Lady Melisandre of Asshai, a R'hllor priestess. The religion doesn't play a major role in the first book, or in the HBO series so far, but the first book (GAME OF THRONES) does mention "red priests" and their flaming swords.
I also suggest, for future development, including more information from the appendices to the books; for example, The Kings and their courts, the smaller houses, and The Men of the Night Watch (not an inclusive list). A search function also would be great.
Despite all my suggestions, I will say this is a good app for quick reference.
If you update again, an easier way to get back from I du uduak character pages from the page on which you accessed that character would be a huge improvement. If I'm reading about Arya, i might just want to go back to the other Starks or 'A' characters directly, without having to go down the categories listing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if we find typos, like paragraphs or fractions of paragraphs repeated within entries, or mistakes, do you want to know?
LOL at Captcha, which just gave me wighted!!!
BTW, I agree with GreenGrannie about including R'hllor under your religions list. Melisandre and her faith are important in ACOK, which a lot of your app readers will be reading soon, when they miss the characters after AGOT ends on HBO.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the lack of a Back function is driving me nuts.
Steffon lannister is missing from characters
ReplyDeleteI mean Stafford Lannister sorry he is the cousin of Tywin Lannister.
ReplyDeleteProbably a better place to contact the dev, but I'm having an issue with the app. Purchased it for iPhone, it kept crashing so I deleted it to reinstall, but iTunes doesn't seem to remember I bought it. I'd rather not have to pay for it again.
ReplyDeleteHey Mike D.,
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing you're not THE Mike D. :)
Unfortunately, this sounds like an issue that only Apple can handle. Do you normally synch to your computer via iTunes? If so, you could try synching to see whether you get the app back. Otherwise, I'm not really sure how to get it back on your iPhone.
Best,
Jason
Well, I'm 'a' Mike D...
DeleteYeah, I use iTunes to sync. Just looked at the apps section on my computer and it's gone from there too. Weird. I'll see what Apple says.
Thanks for the quick reply.
...i would like to have the possibility to choose other languages...italian for instance...
